The Lion and the Rose is a great place to stay while discovering Portland or visiting family or friends who live here ... to make your business trip more of a pleasure ... to celebrate an anniversary or birthday ... to enjoy a relaxing, romantic get-away ... for a quiet escape before leaving on your honeymoon ... or to have your family and friends feel at home while visiting Portland.

The two parlors and dining room are comfortable, spacious, and decorated in period furnishings. The Middle Parlor features a gas fireplace. We have a rack full of travel brochures and offer 20 custom maps to help you discover Portland. There is a "PC Nook" where you can check e-mail and print boarding passes. We offer free wireless internet access throughout the house.

Customize and Economize (withh "all the frills" or "no frills"):
  • You can book your reservation with or without daily breakfast (see descriptions below). If you choose not to have breakfast with us, there are several breakfast restaurants and cafes within walking distnace.
  • You can also add full daily housekeeping if you wish. Every day we empty your wastebaskets and replinish towels but leave the rest up to you. However, if you would prefer we also make the bed, refresh the bathroom and vacuum each day of your stay, then you can add full daily housekeeping (for $10 per day).

    From May thru September:
  • Breakfast: A delicious full 2-course breakfast is served buffet or family style in our formal dining room from 8:30-9:30am Monday-Saturday, and from 9-10am on Sundays:
    - The first course features fruit and pastry.
    - The second course offers a meat-free egg dish and two side dishes. One of the side dishes is usually bacon, ham or sausage; the other side dish is meat-free.
    Coffee is available in the kitchen starting at 6:30am.
    - A full breakfast can be served as early as 8am (8:30am on Sundays) and a more limited breakfast can be served as early as 7:30am (8am on Sundays). �To Go� items (including muffins, power bars, and whole fruit) can be made available for earlier depatures.
  • Complimentary Snack & Beverage Service: Cookies, pretzels and candies are available in the Dining Room on "Grandma's Treat Table" and whole fruit is available in the Kitchen. Complimentary beverages include tea, spring water, V-8 and Apple juice.

    From October thru April:
  • We offer a hearty continental breakfast buffet between 8am and 9:30am.
    The breafkast buffet includes:
    - muffins and scones
    - whole wheat bread, bagels and English Muffins (with butter, jam, peanut butter or cream cheese)
    - Granola, Special-K and milk
    - whole and cut fruit
    - yogurt
    - hard boiled eggs
    - orange juice
    - coffee, tea, hot cocoa and hot apple cider mix
    We also offer the following on request:
    - cheese or Denver omelets
    - waffles and syrup
    - hot oat meal
    For those who need to depart before 8am, we can offer "to go" items, inlcuding cut fruit, scones, power bars, apple juice and V-8.

    Parking:
    Street parking is safe and generally available. There are no parking meters or time limits. Feel free to use our front or back driveway to drop of your luggage before you park.
