The Lion and the Rose is a great place to stay while discovering Portland or visiting family or friends who live here ... to make your business trip more of a pleasure ... to celebrate an anniversary or birthday ... to enjoy a relaxing, romantic get-away ... for a quiet escape before leaving on your honeymoon ... or to have your family and friends feel at home while visiting Portland.

The two parlors and dining room are comfortable, spacious, and decorated in period furnishings. The Middle Parlor features a gas fireplace. We have a rack full of travel brochures and offer 20 custom maps to help you discover Portland. There is a "PC Nook" where you can check e-mail and print boarding passes. We offer free wireless internet access throughout the house.

Customize and Economize (withh "all the frills" or "no frills"):
You can customize your stay (and receive discounts) by choosing to book your reservation with:

daily breakfast (see descriptions below) or, for a discount, without daily breakfast -- there are several breakfast restaurants and cafes within walking distnace.

full daily housekeeping (where we make the bed, refresh the bathroom and vacuum each day) or, for a discount, with limited housekeeping (where we empty the wastebaskets and replenish towels as needed, but leave the rest up to you).

Note: If you wish to take advantage of either of these discounts please book with Limited Service and then indicate if you wish to add either breakfast or full housekeeping.

From May thru October:

Breakfast: A delicious full 2-course breakfast is served buffet or family style in our formal dining room from 8:30-9:30am Monday-Saturday, and from 9-10am on Sundays:
- The first course features fruit and pastry.
- The second course offers a meat-free egg dish and two side dishes. One of the side dishes is usually bacon, ham or sausage; the other side dish is meat-free.
Coffee is available in the kitchen starting at 6:30am. A full breakfast can be served as early as 8am (8:30am on Sundays) and a more limited breakfast can be served as early as 7:30am (8am on Sundays). “To Go” items (including muffins, power bars, and whole fruit) can be made available for earlier depatures.

Complimentary Snack & Beverage Service: Cookies, brownies, mixed nuts and candies is available in the Dining Room on "Grandma's Treat Table" and whole fruit is available in the Kitchen. Complimentary beverages include tea, soft drinks, V-8 and Apple juice and spring water.

From November thru April:

Breakfast: Enjoy an optional continental breakfast between 7:30am and 9:30am. The breakfast selection includes:
- muffins, whole wheat bread and bagels (with butter, jam, peanut butter or cream cheese)
- oat meal, granola, cold cereal and milk
- whole and cut fruit
- yogurt
- toaster waffles and syrup
- hard boiled eggs
- coffee, tea, hot cocoa and hot apple cider mix
- orange and apple juice
A hot water kettle, toaster and microwave are available. Complimentary coffee is available in the kitchen starting at 6:30am.

Note, Complimentary snack and beverage service is NOT offered from November through April.

Parking:
Street parking is safe and generally available. There are no parking meters or time limits. Feel free to use our front or back driveway to drop of your luggage before you park.
